Unable to send or receive or download MMS (Multimedia message)
You may fail to send or receive or download MMS (Multimedia message) due to following reasons.
1. Incorrect APN settings in “Advance SMS”.
★ First find out the correct APN settings for your cellular network.
- There are main three values to configure APN settings:
- 1) MMSC (Multimedia message service center)
- 2) MMS Proxy
- 3) MMS Port
- Note : MMS Proxy and MMS Port may be blank for your network.
- The MMS settings may be stored in your Android device’s Settings » More » Mobile Networks » Access Point Names (your device may have a different settings structure). Choose an access point with an APN type of mms or default and look for the MMSC, MMS Proxy and MMS Port values.
- If the MMS settings are not stored in your device then please ask to your network operator for the correct values.
★ Enter the correct APN settings into “Advance SMS” To Enter APN settings.
- Open “Advance SMS”
- Press menu key and go to settings.
- Under “APNS settings” manually configure it.
- a. Disable (Uncheck) “Use default APN settings”.
- b. Set MMSC value into “Service Center” field.
- c. set MMS Proxy value into “Proxy Address” field.
- d. set MMS Port value into “Proxy Port” field.
2. MMS size is larger then “Max allowed size” set in “Advance SMS”.
Most network providers have a default mms message maximum size limit of 300 kilobytes. If the mms message you are sending or receiving is larger then default maximum size limit then it may be rejected by the network provider.
- To change “Max allowed size” settings.
- Open “Advance SMS”
- Press menu key and go to settings
- Under “MMS max size”, change “Max allowed size” value.
- Note : default value is 307200 bytes (approx. 300 kb)
If you are not sure what should be max mms size then please ask to your cellular provider.
3. Incorrect “Download over WiFi” setting.
If your cellular network does not support mms over WiFi (or you are not sure), then make sure that mms “Download over WiFi” is disabled.
- To change “Download over WiFi” settings.
- Open “Advance SMS”
- Press menu key and go to settings
- Under “Multimedia (MMS) Messages”, disable (Uncheck) “Download over WiFi” setting.
After disabling “Download over WiFi”, turn off WiFi & turn on mobile data. Then try to send mms to yourself and you should receive it.
4. Incorrect “User Agent”, “User Agent Profile Url” and “User Agent Profile Tag” settings.
Some mobile networks require special values for the “User Agent”, “User Agent Profile Url” (uaprof url) and “User Agent Profile Tag” settings.
If you know what the values are for your network, you can enter them. Otherwise DO NOT change these values from the defaults.
- To Enter these settings.
- Open “Advance SMS”
- Press menu key and go to settings.
- Under “APNS settings”, set correct “User Agent”, “User Agent Profile Url” and “User Agent Profile Tag” values.
